Improving health & safety
Our commitment to our people starts with keeping us all safe and healthy. Looking after our people in the workplace is an essential foundation and our number one focus.
We strive continuously to improve by reducing risk across Smiths operations. This means systematic analysis of data, proactively designing and investing for safety, and strengthening our global and local safety cultures to deliver in our varied operating environments. In addition, all Smiths colleagues have access to an employee assistance programme.

Mental health & wellbeing
Our internal THRIVE network provides a platform to support physical, emotional, intellectual and financial well-being through activities including employee assistance programmes, competitions, site activities and special events. Other activities across Smiths to support mental health and wellbeing include:
- Our voluntary sessions for employees covering topics related to mental health, sharing resources from our Employee Assistance Programme and medical benefits provider.
- Running an active inclusion, diversity & belonging hub.
- Running training courses aligned to mental health and wellbeing including anti bullying training and non-harassment training.
- Installing dedicated Mental Health First Aiders across our business.
We are committed to ensuring that all our colleagues have opportunities to develop their knowledge and skills, reach their full potential, and build a career at Smiths. Creating an environment and infrastructure that achieve this is also the key to attracting the right talent to Smiths, whether young people at the beginning of their working lives, or experienced specialists.
