Weiya Zhuo has been part of the Smiths Family for 17 years, joining in December 2006. Based at Smiths Interconnect China, she is a Socket Assembly Shift Leader.

What is the main reason you have stayed with Smiths for 17 years?

For me, it’s both the job and the colleagues. Smiths is not only trusted by customers, partners and employees, but actively cares about contributing to the sustainable development of society and is a company with conscience and vision. 

At Smiths, I am always learning and growing I feel very lucky to be a member of the Smiths family.

What is your proudest achievement at Smiths?

For me, it’s being able to lead my team to serve the company's customer-first philosophy. As well as this, I am proud to help my team members with their personal learning and development journeys within Smiths. I feel that I am not only a job performer, but also a job creator and leader.

What makes Smiths company culture stand out?

I think the most prominent factor is the sense of ownership. Employees take it on themselves to be the master of their work, rather than just the executors. This means they take responsibility, actively solve problems, creatively improve efficiency, and constantly pursue excellence- all of which contributes to the development and success of the company.

What makes Smiths a great place to work?

I think what makes Smiths a great place to work is the company's enthusiasm. It's an atmosphere where every employee is passionate and motivated to do their job, where every employee enjoys the joys and challenges of their work, and where every employee is able to continue to learn and improve. This enthusiasm also allows the company to innovate and improve, bringing more value and impact to customers and society.

Tell us about one of your best moments here at Smiths?

One of my best moments at Smiths was when my team and I won the Best Customer Service award at last year's annual awards ceremony. It was the best way to recognise and reward our hard work throughout the year. I felt very proud, and I am very thankful to the company and our customers for believing in us and supporting us. I think this is a milestone for me and really helps with my motivation at Smiths.

What advice would you give to colleagues who have just started their career at Smiths?

For new colleagues, my advice is: keep an open and positive mind, learn and try more, don't be afraid of failures and setbacks and believe in yourself and the company. I believe that as long as you follow the company's values, you will be able to find your place and direction in Smiths and realize your dreams and goals.

What advice would you give your younger self?

I think the most valuable piece of advice would be don't be in a hurry. Instead, have patience and perseverance, a plan and a goal, and be grateful and give back.

What makes you excited for your future at Smiths?

For me, it’s because I believe that Smiths will continue to be a leader in its industry and will continue to create more value and impact for its customers and the community. I expect that Smiths will give me more opportunities and challenges to showcase my talents and potential, as well as allow me to grow and progress. We have a bright future ahead of us.
