Smiths, a leading industrial engineering company, has announced details of significant customer wins in its John Crane business, a global leader in flow control solutions for process, energy and energy transition industries.

The customer wins highlight John Crane’s geographic scale, the breadth and depth of its products and services, and its ability to serve its customers at their point of need. Four of the most significant recent wins are detailed here:

  • In the Middle Eastern region, John Crane was awarded a multi-million-pound order for dry gas seals for a major energy company. This enabled the customer to increase its processing capacity from 2.5 to 4 billion standard cubic feet per day.
  • In Europe, a multi-year global framework agreement was secured with a leading international energy company, formalising a long-term partnership focused on improving equipment reliability, standardising performance across global operations and addressing critical challenges in seal management. John Crane demonstrated its ability to solve the customer's challenges through the successful delivery of a structured managed reliability programme at one of its flagship refineries, now considered its best-performing site for seal reliability.
  • In central America, a multi-year, multi-million-dollar managed reliability programme – including providing on-site engineers and digital analysis and evaluation – was awarded to John Crane by a leading global energy company.
  • Sustainability continues to be a focus and, in the USA, through the installation of mechanical sealing solutions, John Crane enabled an international pulp and paper mill customer to reduce its water usage by 90% and increase the average time between consecutive repairs of a system from three weeks to more than 12 months.

These notable customer wins offer a snapshot of the company’s broader portfolio wins during the first half of fiscal year 2026. By their nature, these typical multi-year contracts often include contracts to service and maintain rotating equipment at customer plants, to support increased efficiency and lower total cost of ownership.

President of John Crane, Ruben Alvarez, commented: “Our customers rely on us to keep their most critical equipment running safely, reliably and for longer. These recent success stories demonstrate how John Crane helps operators increase productivity and reduce unplanned downtime by extending the life of essential plant assets and preventing failures before they occur.

"This strong customer focus continues to position John Crane as a trusted partner for customers managing complex, mission critical operations globally.”
