Smiths Detection Inc. (SDI) announces that it has won an order to deliver a significant number of its high-speed Explosives Detection System (EDS) which increase screening capacity, to an air freight parcel sorting facility in Europe and the United Kingdom.
Smiths Detection designed a large, protected tunnel system without lead curtains to allow secure and uninterrupted screening, important for the high-speed shipment of low weight parcels. The HI-SCAN 10080 XCT is the next generation, high-speed EDS, which uses certified and approved algorithms (ECAC Standard 3, TSA and others) to scan packages, cargo and parcels for explosives.
It utilizes a dual-energy advanced security X-ray and 3D volumetric Computed Tomography (CT) for enhanced imaging. The units are also capable of detecting other goods that are of interest to cargo shipment companies, customs, police and other authorities. International air freight companies rely on these systems, which they deploy to various sorting locations around the world, to meet growing delivery and security demands.
Shan Hood, President of SDI, commented, “Smiths Detection partners with global air freight companies, providing reliable, high-throughput scanning technologies for the safe transit of packages. The HI-SCAN 10080 XCT’s exceptional capabilities, combined with Smiths Detection’s globally-recognized support team, will ensure that our customers continue to be positioned for growth.”
