Marisa Sitney, Smiths
Marisa Sitney shares what it means to her to see her nominated charity, In2ScienceUK, selected for Smiths Foundation funding.
Based in the UK, In2ScienceUK supports young people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to access engineering and STEM placements.
Reflecting on the impact of the charity, Marisa said: “I nominated In2Science as the charity’s mission perfectly aligns with the Foundation’s impact framework, focused on making STEM accessible to students from underserved communities.
“They specialise in supporting talented students into high quality STEM placements, mentoring and skills development that would otherwise be out of reach.
“By funding 40 placements, the Foundation is helping open doors for the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators, young people whose potential might otherwise go untapped.
“This grant is an investment not only in individual futures but in the strength and diversity of the UK’s STEM talent pipeline.”
The Smiths Foundation awards grants to charitable organisations nominated by Smiths employees, supporting causes that align with our purpose of engineering a better future.
Since its launch in 2023, the Foundation has awarded approximately £3 million in funding to 32 charities across 16 countries.
