Introducing new solutions for blood pressure monitoring, airway management and ambulatory infusion
Smiths Medical is introducing three innovative new products at the American Society of Anesthesiologists annual meeting in Boston this week.
- The Invasive Blood Pressure Monitoring System meets the challenging needs of critical patients with a sophisticated product that helps clinicians focus on patient care.
- The aerFree™ Airway Management System is the first FDA-cleared external negative pressure aid. It’s a non-invasive, comfortable and easy-to-use airway device utilizing aer+™ technology, which is the application of negative pressure to a patient’s neck above the upper airway to support the patency of that airway during medical and surgical procedures requiring mild to moderate sedation.
- The CADD®-Solis Ambulatory Infusion Pump now includes wireless communication to and from PharmGuard® Server software, allowing clinicians to securely deploy software updates, remotely manage pump performance, track pump locations, and download infusion data reports.
These new products add to Smiths Medical’s recognised and trusted portfolio of devices used by anaesthesiologists through all phases of patient care.
Smiths Medical will also be hosting a symposium on Advancements in Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) Initiatives on Sunday 22 October in Boston, where industry experts will provide tips and information on implementing and sustaining ERAS initiatives.
ERAS is a clinical pathway for perioperative (before, during and after surgery) care, recommending an evidence-based bundle of therapies and interventions. ERAS protocols are implemented by a multidisciplinary care team and have been shown to improve clinical outcomes, reduce complications, improve patient experience and reduce length of stay, readmissions and healthcare costs.
